Out my front window are vineyards. I am surrounded by wineries. I have always liked that wine has an "old world" feel to it, that is what this painting expresses. Although today in my valley they are thinking outside the box with they're naming and labeling wines with a contemporary twist. The first Canadian vineyard was founded in 1811. Thirty-five years later, that estate was bought by an aristocratic Frenchman, Justin de Courtenay, whose Gamay won a prize at the 1867 Paris Exposition.  207 years later the Canadain wine industry is still winning international acclaim.
