DIFF’RENT STROKES | Art instruction goes social

I have never done one of these, so why not give it a go?

When my daughter asked me to do a paint and wine event at her home I was unsure. It takes years of training and practice to become an artist. But that's not the point of this art party is it? It's about learning and making a few happy little mistakes along the way, thus the wine. They told me what they wanted to paint; three feathers, each feather on it's own canvas board.

Wine, art and social gatherings seem to go hand in hand these days and it is no wonder, the process is simple. I supplied, brushes, paint, canvases, and sketched out paintings, ready to go.  I gave them step-by-step instructions getting them started, showing them a few tricks of the trade and then letting their individualism take over. Whether or not they’ve ever painted they can leave with a finished painting. This is social time for these ladies –  it’s relaxed, and so much fun.

It was a new making art adventure for me... I learned you don't need to be an artist or creative genius to have fun at a painting party.

Next time who knows they might want to try a landscape?
